Aliante Casino Homicide Suspect Identified After Carjacking Spree

A man accused of fatally shooting someone at the Aliante Casino prompted a frenzied pursuit by police, which included several carjackings and collisions Thursday morning, as reported by the North Las Vegas Police Department.

Officers arrived after receiving reports of a shooting at the casino at approximately 4:30 a.m. and discovered the victim dead. The individual, recognized on Friday morning as 18-year-old Aerion Warmsley, had escaped from the location.

Approximately at 5 a.m., Metro police were dispatched to the site of an accident close to Spring Mountain Road and Interstate 15. Police discovered that the car connected to the accident was the same vehicle linked to the Aliante homicide.

Fast-Paced Pursuit

During the inquiry into the accident, officers got reports of a carjacking involving a weapon and swiftly pieced the information together. They monitored the stolen car with license plate scanners to the city center.

Officers chased the car eastward in the direction of Boulder Highway. Warmsley left his car in the drive-thru of a fast-food eatery before executing a second carjacking and fleeing quickly. Authorities kept pursuing the individual who was driving at speeds over 105 mph.

The suspect crashed into a bus stop at the intersection of Boulder Highway and Tropicana Avenue, injuring at least two pedestrians, one of whom is in critical condition, according to authorities. The pursuit proceeded once the suspect managed to steal a vehicle from a third individual.

“The speeds were just so fast we couldn’t keep up,” Undersheriff Andrew Walsh told reporters at a news conference, adding that by this point a helicopter was assisting in tracking the suspect.

Ultimately, the police managed to collide with that vehicle and apprehend the driver at approximately 9 a.m.

Warmsley is charged with one count of open murder involving a deadly weapon and one count of robbery involving a deadly weapon.

Dogged Cops

“These cops didn’t give up, leadership didn’t give up,” Steve Grammas, president of the Las Vegas Protective Association, a police union, said in a social media post on Thursday. “They said, no, this person will be caught. They knew this man had to be apprehended, so they chased him down and the subject was eventually taken into custody.”

Several hours following Warmsley’s arrest, North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown presented her 2025 State of the City speech at the casino. According to The Las Vegas Review-Journal, she did not mention the homicide.
